2026 Canadian Youth Delegate


Call for applications for the 2026 Canadian Youth Delegate for Global Health.

 

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen and hold a valid Canadian passport;
-Be between 18 and 30 years of age (at the time of applying);
-Be currently a student or a young professional in the field of health sciences, clinical
care, or global/public health.

 

Merit Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
-Completeness and quality of application,
- Evidence of experience and understanding related to global health, global health policy, governance or diplomacy,
-Past experience with youth engagement or involvement in youth networks,
-Understanding of global health policy and the nature of the work in the UN system, including at the WHO and PAHO,
-Knowledge of both official languages (Preferred).


Application requirements
To apply, your application must include:
-A completed online application form 
-Your most up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV)
-A recommendation letter (1 page max) from professional (emailed to youthdelegate.canada@gmail.com by the referee);

-A recommendation letter (1 page max) from peer (emailed to youthdelegate.canada@gmail.com by the referee) 


Learning Objectives
By the end of this experience, the CYD will have:
1. A strong understanding of the global health architecture, including its structure and key
institutions
2. Insight into Canada’s role within multilateral systems and the function of health
diplomacy in promoting Canadian priorities on the global stage
3. Skills and strategies to effectively elevate youth perspectives in international fora

 

Applications are due September 7th, 2025 at 11:59pm ET

 

Please note that any application received after the deadline, or any incomplete application, will not be considered.
 
Additional information
Financial support will be available for the successful candidate. If travel is required, participants may need to pay costs upfront; however, all accommodation expenses and a per diem will be reimbursed following participation in the global health meetings.
